The client runs a large-scale Oracle 11.2.0.4 database supporting core retail and distribution operations, including stock, purchasing, sales, and MRP workflows, on a 64 CPU, 64 GB RAM environment. The environment had grown around daily retail operations without a corresponding revisit of patching, privilege management, and monitoring.

Outdated database version

The database was running Oracle 11.2.0.4, past its extended support end date of December 2020, with the latest available patch not yet applied.

Excess DBA privileges

5 non-DBA users held DBA-level privileges, well beyond what operational roles required.

Auditing and monitoring gaps

Database-level auditing and proactive monitoring were both disabled, leaving anomalies to surface only after they escalated.

Fragmentation and stale statistics

Dozens of tables showed significant fragmentation, and many carried outdated statistics that could mislead the query optimizer.

Geopits was asked to run a full security and performance assessment covering patching, privileges, auditing, fragmentation, and operational readiness, and to produce a prioritized set of recommendations.

Table and index sizing, the recycle bin, and invalid database objects were reviewed for cleanup opportunities.
